What is a Kubotan?

A Kubotan is a close combat weapon in the form of a 13 to 15 centimeter long and up to 2,5 centimeter thick stick, which can be used as a striking and pressure amplifier. The Kubotan was developed in the 1980s as a self-defense weapon for female police officers of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). As soon as it also functions as a lever tool, a bottle opener, or a pen, there is no longer a legal issue.

Tactical Pens: The legal alternative to the Kubotan

A tactical pen has a solid construction. Most self-defense weapons are equipped with an aluminum or steel body and are accordingly robust. Although a tactical pen can be used in the same way as a Kubotan, it is not prohibited in Switzerland. This is mainly due to its additional function as a pen.
