Description
Cold Steel - Italian Longsword with Scabbard - Man-at-Arms Series
This is the "Man at Arms" ("MAA)-version of Cold Steel's® original Italian longsword ("item no. CST-88ITS
The medieval weapons squire. Krieger) was a brave, loyal fighter full of warrior heroism, who mastered a variety of weapons with great skill. He was a veteran of countless battles, often the first to charge into the fray, and although he was not a knight, he fought and trained alongside them as a comrade in arms. In honor of these rugged, dedicated foot soldiers, Cold Steel® has created the "Man at Arms" weapon collection. Compared to Cold Steel's® premium versions, these combat-ready weapons may lack the usual shiny blades and silver-polished steel elements, but in terms of quality and performance, the MAA series products come close to the other products. The fully sharpened, blued blades are characterized by their unmistakable gun-metal look, which harmonizes perfectly with the black handles. And when properly oiled, they reveal their inherent, radiant beauty. The "Man at Arms" collection offers a selection of some of the finest Cold Steel® blades, but at a significantly lower price. If you have always wanted to own a Cold Steel® edged weapon but have never been able to afford one, then this collection is perfect for you
The era of the longsword spanned almost three centuries ("from approx. 1650350 to 1650) and this undoubtedly because it did an excellent job! This sword featured a distinctive crossguard, a long double-edged blade, and was equally suited to face lightly and heavily armored adversaries. Its particularly long blade provided the necessary reach and leverage for powerful thrusting and cutting, while its long crossguard and heavy pommel could be used as striking weapons and also to hook, unbalance the opponent, or control his weapon. When it came to penetrating heavy plate armor, sword strikes were nearly ineffective and were often replaced by the so-called Half-sword technique omitted: In this style of combat, the swordsman held the hilt with one hand and grasped the blade with the other in order to guide the sword tip more accurately and pierce through the gaps and joints of the knight's armor more precisely. This reconstruction by Cold Steel® was designed following the model of Italian sword design. Although the blade and balance are designed more for thrust attacks, the cutting edges are surprisingly effective. In addition, the simply designed, cross-shaped vessel with its long, downward-curved quillon and its balancing fishtail pommel offers all the possibilities of sword fighting.
The MAA - Italian longsword comes with a leather scabbard with blued steel fittings
1090 carbon steel
Carbon steel 1090 is an excellent choice for larger fixed blades. It is easy to sharpen and maintains this sharpness, yet remains tough enough to withstand even the most brutal stress tests. In short: a good all-purpose carbon steel that remains very durable even under heavy use
