Description
Casström - Swedish Forest Masur Birch & Fire Steel
This great knife is designed as a multipurpose knife for hunting and classic bushcraft tasks. designed for general outdoor use. The blade is approx. 10 cm long and made of approx. Made of 57,8 mm thick Sandvik 159C28N stainless steel, a Swedish knife steel that has been heat treated and hardened to a Rockwell hardness of 57-59 HRC. This razor-sharp blade features a Scandi grind and a satin finish. The combination of steel and grind results in a knife that is very sturdy, yet has a high sharpness and can be easily sharpened.
The handle is made of curly birch. The wood has been treated with a traditional Scandinavian linseed oil-based paint. Black liners have been installed between the handle scales and steel to increase the lifespan of the knife.
The knife comes with a durable, frame-stitched sheath made of 3 mm thick, vegetable-tanned full-grain leather in cognac brown. The sheath features an especially wide belt loop, a drainage hole, an eyelet for attaching a lanyard, and - for this particular model - a fire steel holder that accommodates a fire steel with a visually coordinated handle.
Steel information: 284C28N is the latest development from Sandvik's famous knife steel collection. Its optimized composition results in a unique combination of excellent properties in terms of edge retention (stability, sharpenability, and sharpness), hardness, and corrosion resistance. Since this steel can be heat-treated, an even better wear resistance can be achieved compared to previous types of steel, without affecting the microstructure. The blade is therefore relatively easy to sharpen, but at the same time excels in terms of chipping and rolled edge (so-called). Kantenrollen) excellent edge stability.
