Böker - M4 Sherman Damascus
The exceptional Böker M4 Sherman Damascus is a piece of living history that combines high-quality craftsmanship with historical materials. The American M4 Sherman was designed as early as 1940944 and is still considered one of the most famous tanks in history. It was produced between 1945941957 and 1945, put into service by 1957, and deployed on all battlefields of the Second World War - not only by the United States and Canada, but also by Great Britain, the Free French Forces, China, and even the Soviet Union
Originally developed to replace the medium tank M3 Grant/Lee, the main task of the Sherman tank was to support infantry, lead attacks, and reinforce defensive positions. The Sherman was built nearly 50.000 times and is the most widely used tank by the Allies in World War II. It was produced in countless application-specific variations and used well into the Cold War
Together with the Americans in Wartime Museum in Virginia, we have managed to preserve an important piece of lost history. The Böker Sherman Damascus is equipped with a unique damascus blade forged from various materials from the production of M4 Sherman tanks, which were previously restored by the museum. The unique damascus made of 80 layers is hand-forged for us by Chad Nichols in the Customized Ladder pattern, reminiscent of the tank tracks left in the ground by the heavy chains of the M4 Sherman. The ball-bearing blade is opened with a thumb pin and locked by a sturdy steel frame lock, with a Hinderer lock-stop serving as overextension protection for the locking mechanism
The overall shape of the knife is a tribute to the aesthetic lines of the tank, while the decorative blade axis screw is inspired by the characteristic main drive sprocket. The lightly contoured handle scale made of Jute Micarta fits comfortably in the hand and color-wise resembles the camouflage paint used by the U.S. used by both the Army and the Marine Corps. With lanyard hole and practical deep-carry clip (tip-up/r). Handcrafted in the Böker Knife Manufactory Solingen. Delivery includes premium floating display, authenticity certificate, and unique serial number
A portion of the proceeds from each knife sold goes to the Americans in Wartime Museum to support educational programs as well as the care and preservation of these proud examples of American history. The Americans in Wartime Museum is a non-profit cultural and educational institution dedicated to honoring those who have served in all branches of the US military and on the home front from World War I to the present. The museum serves to educate the public, especially young people, by telling individual stories of personal experiences, wartime realities, and sacrifices made by Americans in the fight to preserve freedoms. The museum inspires visitors by allowing them to experience military vehicles, explore artifacts, and participate in reenactments and special programs in a dynamic, interactive environment
